Specialized/Themed Tours

As New York City’s largest borough and the most ethnically diverse place on Earth, Queens offers many opportunities for specialized study. A neighborhood walking tour can be designed to focus on a single subject. Possible themes include cultural diversity, arts, nature, food, infrastructure development, gentrification, industrial heritage, small businesses, history of a particular period, or another topic of your choosing. These tours are two hours long. For grades 6 and up!

  Adrienne Onofri is a licensed NYC sightseeing guide and the author of the book Walking Queens: 30 Tours for Discovering the Diverse Communities, Historic Places, and Natural Treasures of New York City’s Largest Borough, as well as Walking Brooklyn: 30 Tours Exploring Historical Legacies, Neighborhood Culture, Side Streets, and Waterways. A native New Yorker and longtime Queens resident, Adrienne is also a freelance editor and travel and arts journalist. She received a B.S. in journalism from Northwestern University, and a master’s in education at Pace University.
